Neo-Meilandian Truth-Relativism of a Weak Sort
Peter Davson-Galle
Abstract
[0] Some years ago, Jack Meiland suggested that a viable relativistic
concept of truth could be developed within the broad constraints of a
correspondence theory by construing the relative truth of a statement
as a three place relation among the statement, the world and a third
relatum (individual, framework of belief, culture etc.). I attempt to
develop this suggestion using a conceptual web as the third relatum
and offer a thesis of relative truth employing it that avoids
self-refutation without making truth overly subjective.
